Play Mat FAQ
Our play mats consist of one fabric cover with two side zip openings, and two natural latex foam inserts.
Our play mat cover options are 100% organic cotton, vegan leather, and a blend of bamboo jersey + organic cotton + spandex. The cotton covers are GOTS-certified organic, and the vegan leather and bamboo jersey blend covers are OEKO-TEX certified.
Our play mat foam inserts are 1” of 100% natural Dunlop latex foam and Oeko-Tex certified.
The waterproof cover sets are optional, and come as a set of two zippered covers. The waterproof covers are 100% bamboo jersey fabric and Oeko-Tex certified.
The bottom of the outer cover is made with the same fabric as the top (either 100% cotton or vegan leather depending on mat type). Unlike the top, the bottom has a crease down the middle of the mat where the two foam pieces meet.

We're always thinking of others being comfortable and OF COURSE this is a GREAT addition to a baby's playing area (mine started rolling with so much more confidence with this!), but it surprised me how much I (the mom) am enjoying this mat as well, as we usually do spend lots of time on the floor. It gives me peace of mind to know it's made of non-toxic materials and I don't regret getting the epic size (no, it's not too big and my son is only 5mo right now). Took me months to convince my husband to get this mat (he got other options and we ended up returning them all) and, now that we have our Toki mat, he loves it too and the 3 of us can hang out on it comfortably. The sage color is BEAUTIFUL!

I got the playful posies cover and it is absolutely beautiful. In fact, this adorable pattern makes me happy! I was nervous picking a “colorful” cover but it’s actually the perfect mix of tones (not too bright, not too much). The colors are sophisticated and just perfect! The actual mat inside is cushy and nice - even for me to sit on, as an adult playing with my baby! I like that it folds in half so I can move and store it. Wipeable but also very smooth and soft-feeling. Pleasant to the touch, I would say!

I have two imperfect checker covers now and I’m so glad I invested so that I can always have a clean one on while the other is being washed. A few notes: 1. I have noticed the zippers are a little tough to use at times. They get stuck but not horribly, and this is probably typical of the small/discreet style of zipper. Not sure if the not imperfect cover zippers are any better! 2. I also noticed some size variability. My matcha cover is way easier to get on than my pepper one, because it is slightly larger. This is obviously more convenient. It is a bit of a wrestling match to get either on, regardless. 3. You absolutely have to invest in the waterproof covers as well. It’s nearly impossible to get the cotton covers on the foam without them. It’s a huge pain. In my opinion, the covers should be included with the mat since they are already pricey, but again, worth the investment just to avoid the headache of trying to get cotton on foam, and to prevent the inevitable messes that come with infants from soaking into the foam.
